Stray, table of contents
In the last entry, during which I was kvetching about my apparently eternal writer's block, Amanda asked about more in the Shifts-verse. I mentioned this poor, abandoned little critter (which I actually like a whole lot, right up to and including the chapter in which I dropped it out of some weird existential despair). It was never finished, so I never archived it, but I do still have the links preserved from my old site. So, here's about half of Goblet of Fire from Sirius's POV, called Stray.

Oh, I adore this one! Any chance of your being re-inspired to continue? :)

I'm always inspired to continue. ;p Whether or not I can get my head in order is more open to question. I don't want to abandon the poor thing a third time!

Coincidentally, I am rereading Goblet of Fire just now, and reading this in addition has been such a treat!

Hey Fern, glad to hear you're still alive.

I recently picked up a fanfic that I abandoned about 2 years ago and it suddenly started writing again, so I hope you'll have the same luck on at least one of your stories/verses.

Even if it doesn't, we all appreciate how much hard work you've put in to expanding these stories over the years and I still enjoy re-reading most of them once or twice a year.

I re-read this recently! I enjoyed it a lot.

I did enjoy this one. My suggestion would be that if you ever do want to pick it up again, it may be less pressure on yourself to wait until such time as you have it finished (or until you've written all you can at that time) before posting. This may help alleviate worries about abandoning it again.

I've abandoned enough fics in my time to have pretty much decided not to post a fic at all until I've got it finished. Yeah, you lose that nice instant feedback and encouragement to continue, but I'm willing to take that hit for the sake of the story and readers--and for myself, since this way I don't feel pressured or guilty if it takes me a long time to get around to finishing it.

Thank you!!! I will re-read this and then probably end up re-reading Shifts and Shades, haha.

There actually was another part that you posted, as well as a brief summary describing where the story would have headed.

Chapter 24, part 2:

The note is post # 962640

I really enjoyed reading this story back when it was being written, and I think that it holds up as a good story, even in an "unfinished manuscript" form.

(Sorry if this double posts, my first attempt was apparently marked as spam, probably because I linked to the two posts).

Thanks! It never made it to my TOC at the Bighead, and I forgot about it!
