Illo poll
Well, back to my dilemma on art. For those who missed the last round, it's basically that I'm mad for illustrations and have in the past simply begged them off of people, but I have to admit that there's a certain fairness to paying for something that I want just because I want it. ;) Alas, I can only afford one (1). (Which, sniff, means I can only contact one artist, and there are so many bloody good ones on my f-list!) My first inclination was for the photo of R/T from "Shifts," but I know exactly what that looks like and can conjure it right up, so I'm thinking of something else. Any of these sound like they might be fun to look at? (Or, if you happen to be one of the bloody good artists on my f-list, one that you desperately would like me to commmission you to do?)

If I commission an illustration, what should it be?

Could someone add my vote to "Shadowy Suggestions"? My computer refuses to give me anything but the answer for LJ polls.

I just read Lines of Descent and its addendums, but that particular scene I could only picture in a Tealin style, you know, trying to be serious, but pretty cartoony.

Anyway, Lines of Descent is fabulous. I have three things to say to you:

1) Remember The Goblet. Of course, you probably do, there's only the slightest ambiguous hint that you don't and it's surrounded by references to superstition, but I just have to say it. Perfunctory. Used to have a shred of hope in the statement.

2) Pure darkfics aren't that bad after all, neh?

3) I love the way you sneaked Snape in. Just keeps me wondering, as though it were a second canon. Beautiful.

Glad you liked. :)

I'm not sure what you're referring to about the Goblet. Could you clarify?

Far be it from me to answer a theoretical question directly, but the reference is in Chapter Two of Lines of Descent, and look up all references to goblets in Chapter Five of Order of the Phoenix to find The Goblet. If it means nothing, you probably weren't worried.

Um, I'm slow. Still not getting it. You don't mean the silver axe comment, etc, do you?

Yes, actually, that is what I mean. That and 4:32. Enjoy it while it lasts...

Ah, speaking of which, do you have any idea what Galadriel Waters means by "we saw a movie from the 1950s and you wouldn't believe what happened to this guy's hand"?

Oh, wait. You mean the silver thing. I forgot that some people thought it was an allergy for werewolves. The whole goblet hullaballoo never really registered on me, because I never thought that--the thing with silver and werewolves is that it's a mystical substance that imbues weapons with its power when used against werewolves. There's no special reason a silver goblet would have any particular effect on Remus, unless someone files down the stem and stabs him with it.

PS: You can have my vote for "Shadowy," which I just made so I could see the poll results without an additional click. That's actually one of the few scenes I've tried to illustrate (a weak attempt here). That's the one that, to me, is the central, climactic scene of Father's Heart.

I voted for the drawing of young Remus and Elizabeth because, what can I say, I love Elizabeth. :)

I know it's not on your list, but somewhere I have a half-finished concept sketch for the "TIE Speeder" in Lady Vader and an idea for one of Amidala's last flight in AOTQ.

Maybe one of these days I'll drag them out and work on them some more.

Edit...but all my drawings cost nothing. :)

Oo, a very attractive price. :) And I'd love to see them. I think those mark my one and only foray into tech creation!

Well, I voted for the first, but I'd most like to see the "cover" illustration for Shifts -- Remus & Dora, of course, with (perhaps) Smeltings in the background, a yellow volkswagon beetle, a sketch of "the picture" in Remus' office, etc - all with the Title and your name. You know - cover art! In color, of course. I wish I could draw or even knew someone who enjoyed drawing who I could bully into it. :)

Have you thought of seeing up a paypal fund - you have a lot of readers and even if everyone pitched in $4, you might be able to get a little more of a fund for which you could commission illustrations.

Ah, alas, while artists can do it, I think the first whiff of money for a fanfic writer would more or less call out the legal attack dogs. :(

I can do photomanips and did a lot of my covers at TFN. Maybe I'll try a Shifts cover, for kicks.
