Congenital insomniac
I am now officially blaming my screwed up creative schedule on genetics. I was on the phone with my mother, told her that I always seemed in a fiction-writing mood around one o'clock in the morning, and that no, I seemed utterly unable to change this.

Mom: (sighs) Well, you are your grandfather's granddaughter. He was always calling us at one o'clock in the morning and forgetting that we were supposed to be asleep--that's when he always came up with new ideas. Your uncle is like that as well, and I think one of your cousins is...

Thank you, Grandpa. And whoever you got it from. I'm sure my nine a.m. patrons appreciate sleepy!librarian...

I am likewise an incurable insomniac by genetics.

I was once amused to find out that after my grandmother finished AIM-ing with me at 2:30 in the morning, she promptly AIMed my mother, and told Mom that I wasn't getting enough sleep. My Mom then pointed out to her that as both of them were still 1, awake and 2, online, that they really couldn't say anything about it.

My college roommate was also an insomniac, and we determined that everyone is their most brilliant from 1-3 AM and their most creative from 3-5 AM. However, most people are asleep during these hours and never take advantage. Therefore, your fiction writing hours seem perfectly in line.
