Challenge call
Phew, woke up after my after-work nap, which was full enough for two dreams. Didn't think I'd be able to do any NaNo writing today. I'm going to get down at least 700 words, but then I need to do something else.

So... what the heck? Challenge me! Give me a point-of-view character that you haven't seen me use before (at least not extensively) and a starting scenario, and I'll write a fic.

ETA: Still behind on NaNo, but I made 1761 words tonight, bringing me to:
19,466 / 50,000
(38.9%)

Of course, it's completely out of order, and I'm going to have to edit it together like a movie. Adding the writing I did between 12:15 and 2:30 together (1803 words on the Cho challenge), that's 3564 words in a little over two hours, which is pretty good running, though of course the larger of the two numbers doesn't count toward NaNo.

Before I do this one, am I blanking on an incident that happened in the book, or can it be a random occurrence of Luna/Trevor?

I can't remember her finding it in the book... I was just thinking of a random occurrence (she seems the type that would attract lost things...)

Penelope, fending off suitors while she waits for Percy to return to his family.

Guess I should set up an LJ acct just for the purpose of commenting on other peoples' LJs?

I'll do more than ashtur's, but I think I better space them out. It's 2:37--I'd rather not be up until 8:00 am. That's just too, too undergrad, deah. ;P (Though those nights--not doing homework, but usually working on my soap--were pretty much the only time I saw a sunrise four four years straight.)

Well, I think you should do Tonks finding out Sirius is innocent, but from Sirius's POV.

I've done a lot in Sirius's POV (and Tonks's), and I seem to be permanently stuck in the story that tells that, er, story. She actually doesn't "find out" so much as start having very big suspicions when she finds out that the Ministry is rejecting Harry's story about Voldemort--mostly when Kingsley tells her that it's the second time Harry has told a wild story, and last time, would you believe it, he said that Sirius Black was innocent. One or the other, she might be able to buy as a lie, but doing it twice is over the top... and if it's possible that one is true, then it's possible that the other is true. So she goes to Dumbledore to find out what's going on, and that's how she gets recruited.

Blaise Zabini comforting - Ginny, after the battle where Ron is killed. (Dumbledore's Army has obviously grown to include Slytherins as well.)

Only Harry Potter challenges so far?

I've got one I thought of a couple weeks ago for you, actually. I stumbled on your Star Wars AU fic, in which Luke is chosen by Anakin as a padawan in the Temple.

I'd really like to see a follow-up to that, preferably when Luke discovers or is told that Master Anakin is his father.

Eep, missed the POV part. Um.... I don't think I've seen you use Yoda's POV. So use him. :~D
fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: November 17th, 2004 10:39 am (UTC) (Link)
I've used it a couple of times (in the Lady Vader stories and in The True Order), but it's certainly not frequent enough to disqualify. ;) Really difficult, it is, from Yoda's point of view to write.

Oh, dear, I hope you mean "difficult" as in "this is a good challenge suggestion" and not "AUGH! She wants me to write whose POV???"

I'd forgotten he was in the Lady Vader stories, and I don't think I've read The True Order. I'll have to go hunt that down next weekend after my Thanksgiving shopping expedition.

Oh, I love a challenge. ;)

The REAL Mad-Eye Moody when he awoke in GoF.
Gilderoy Lockhart after being nominated to go down into the Chamber to rescue Ginny.
Harry's sorting from Minerva McGonagall's or Dumbledore's POV. Or Snape's. Or Quirrell's.
Luna's sorting from the HAT's perspective. (There's got to be more in that head than what she shows to the world.)
How about one of Delores Umbridge's daydreams?

idea

I don't know if you're still taking challenges, but I've always wanted to see Ron explaining to his mother about Sirius at the end of GOF ("Sirius Black!" "Shut up, mum, it's okay" or something like that). Maybe from the point of view of Hermione listening to them?

Or, alternately, Ron and/or Molly explaining it to the rest of the Weasleys.
