Late update
Okay, the pattern had to break...

I finally got around to buying Dark Tower 7--a book which I've been strangely passionless about obtaining, given how diligently I read the rest of the series--and I've been reading it since roughly 8:00. When I'm reading, I'm not writing. And 2:01am, with a hundred pages still left in the section I'm on, means that there's not going to be a Shifts scene tonight. I'll try to have one up tomorrow afternoon.

I have the book but haven't got around to reading it yet. However, I've been told that one of King's other books is key to understanding this one.

Insomnia. I think you can get through DT without it, but a goodish section of DT ends up showing the outcome of someone saved in Insomnia, so I'd guess if you haven't read that one, it might seem a little disjointed. Not incomprehensible, just disjointed.

Actually, I was told that the book was It.

Hmmm. It's my favorite King novel; I didn't see all that much of it in DT. Except for the Voice of the Turtle, but none of what's in DT depends on what's in It to be understood.
