There's a boat in the middle of a street I was on in May. That brings it home.

There's really nothing to say in the face of a hurricane. You can't be angry with it or blame it for anything. But at the same time, you have to be furious, and frightened, and...

Best to all on the Gulf Coast, though I'm hoping you're all getting to high ground rather than checking your f-list for well-wishes. Check in when you can!

As a Floridian, I find myself torn between relief and a vague sense of guilt that this hurricane didn't come for us instead, like they all did last year.

My parents evacuated from New Orleans to Houston, so they're fine. Basically I'm hoping our house isn't flooded at this point, and that the roof is still on, but we live right next to the levee. And cell phone services are down...

It's is good that it turned out the worst of the predictions did not come true. New Orleans was suppose to be a lake by now, with 6 months to pump the water out.

Still its not a happy thing.
