4/29 poetry rec
Heh, I looked down Poets' Corner's author list, and noticed John Quincy Adams. Is there anything he didn't do? Ambassador, President, legislator, lawyer, and poet?

It's not great, but it's pretty sweet. "The Wants of Man."

"MAN wants but little here below,
        Nor wants that little long."
'Tis not with me exactly so;
        But 'tis so in the song.
My wants are many and, if told,
        Would muster many a score;
And were each wish a mint of gold,
        I still should long for more.

The rest here.

JQA is one of the less-lauded presidents who, I think, deserves a bit more attention. I like this poem - it's nothing masterful, but it makes me smile.
