More in a bit
For the nonce, just want to say that little courtesies make like a lot better. I'm not feeling terribly well (picked up an annoying cold while on vacation), and it's uncomfortably warm and humid out, but this was just one of those Decent People days... little things like a stranger saying "Bless you" when I sneezed, a lady offering me a train seat because I looked a little under the weather, random commiserations about the actual weather. Also one big thing--the first thing that happened after I left the house was running into a stranger at the bus stop, who said in a sympathetic way, "We just missed it." So I thanked him and said that, in that case, I was going to grab a juice at Starbucks, which is right there. A few minutes later, the same gentleman actually came into Starbucks specifically to tell me that, recent pass-by or not, another bus was just a block up, and he wouldn't want me to miss it on his say-so.

People are okay sometimes.

They still tire me out--I'm an introvert and can't help that--but they are okay sometimes.

I feel a bit...: grateful grateful

I really, really hope you feel better. And yeah, sometimes mankind is not completely screwed up.

Little things like that give me hope for the rest of humanity. I'm an introvert too, and I feel the exact same way about people. I hope you feel better soon.

Yay for human beings being good! *hugs* and hope your cold goes away, but yay that people were/are decent.

I totally agree, and this is one of the things I really love about urban life.

Hope you feel better!

Oh, that's so nice you had a decent people day. I try to remember to be nice like that most of the time, because I know what a huge difference little things like that can make. Especially when someone is feeling under the weather. I've been sick for so long right now, that the tiniest little things are setting me off right now... unfortunately, I seem to be hitting more of what upsets me than makes me feel better. :~(

And isn't it funny how that introvert/extrovert thing works? The human brain is such a strange object!

Most people are decent - but some of them hide it pretty well :-P

Re: New York, Courtesy, and Personal Space

It doesn't surprise me at all. I remember accidentally dropping my watch on the NYC subway when I was visiting you, and having a total stranger hold the door to say, "Excuse me, Miss, you dropped this."
