Whoa... - The Phantom Librarian
Spewing out too many words since November 2003
Shades is almost finished.

I mean, I knew it, technically, but it's like I've been in this long dark cave for over a year, and suddenly, I turned a corner and realized I'm right at the exit and just have to move a few rocks around to climb out (and hope that it doesn't end me up in the middle of a cliff). I thought I had another whole chapter, but I think, gulp, that I may only have one part left... and it's partly written from way back at the rt_challenge, when I did a lot of little glimpses forward. (Of course, the POV is different and there will be adjustments to fit the story, but the shape of it is already there.)

I survived Shades. (Maybe I shouldn't speak too soon; I may have to cross the street before I write today.) I have one little challenge piece to do for hp_tarot (and that, actually, can be put off until after NaNo, now that I look at the rules) and then it's straight into NaNo and original stuff for a while.

It's a little disconcerting!

There's always something bittersweet about finishing something that's occupied your time for so long. But at least you can be assured that it was time well spent. :)

(I, personally, will only be fully consoled if I'm assured that you'll return to writing fan fiction once you're done with NaNo. ;)

Can I do anything to help you NaNo?

You could write a backstory piece for PoA. Or any other HP book left.
I loved Shades - it was even better than Shifts. When it is finished, I`ll print it out and read it again.

Oh, no!

I will really miss getting updates with my morning coffee, but I am consoled knowing that as I have only recently finished a re-read of Shifts, I can start Shades all over again in a week or two.

I hope the original stuff and NaNo goes well!

How are you going to be doing NaNo? Will you be talking about or posting bits of your stuff on here?

I may talk about it a little bit, but since I'm hoping to come out of it with something I might think about selling, I can't talk too much or post from it.

I think...I may be remembering wrong, but I seem to recall you talking about an incident where Tonks had to spend the night with a transformed Remus (I read that in an rt_challenge entry, probably, but I think I remember you talking about it too)...I can't imagine that's going to fit into what's left of the chapter, though, so was that something that ended up not getting included?

Yeah, if that happened, it would have been during the sequence where they rescued the pups, but it didn't work out.

Hello Fern!

I'm going to take advantage of this opportunity to thank you for both Shades and Shifts. I stumbled across Shifts some time back and really enjoyed it; I was thrilled when, months later, I managed to stumble across Shades equally randomly and realised it was the sequel! Both stories ended up being all-night reading, and incidentally laid to rest a bunch of things that I disliked or found irritating about OotP and HBP, so thank you for that as well. :o)

Congratulations on nearing the end!
