Back!
Well, I have been in and out this past week, but it's been in and out of my mom's house in Albuquerque (didn't think it wise to post, "Oh, by the way, not going to be at home from x until x" on the open internet). I'll post pictures later on. It was fun to take a break, get some very strong sunshine, see the mom and grandmother, and so on. Mom teased me about my "busman's holiday," since I spent a couple of hours visiting my old boss at her new branch, and then checked out the teen room at central and the teen council at another branch. Feh. If I wasn't interested in libraries, I'd be in debt for the wrong degree, wouldn't I? ;p

I took The Stand along for a re-read--always good for very long trips. Though I ended up reading about a flu-based plague whose survivors were headed for Boulder while watching a movie about cholera while on a plane to Denver. It was a weirdly skewed mirror. (The movie was The Painted Veil, which was excellent for what it was, but I guess my brain isn't built that way--I'd have rather had the back story about the brave young doctor fighting the cholera outbreak, how he solved it and got the water supply fixed and so on, rather than the story about his pretty young wife's emotional state during the struggle.)

Anyway, more later. Possibly a HuffleTonks story, just because that made me really happy.

Yes, Huffle Tonks!

You know, I'm beginning to suspect JK Rowling may have read and liked your stuff (maybe just Fern-writing worship and rose colored glasses) and is adapting to fit the additional cannon.

Although, I have wondered about Tonks. It occurred to me that, if Tonks and Remus isn't just Rowling bowled over by an excellent argument in story form, then there may be some hidden plot point to it. As a random thought, if you assume for a moment that the metamorphmagus is the most obvious thing about Tonks and, therefore, something that may be blinding us to other, important details . . . .

Sorry, this is totally random, but I got to thinking of Tonks as a type of Lily - not the idealized Lily that Harry may still be thinking of but, well, a Lily a lot like Tonks except for not being able to change her appearance at will. I think she sort of connects to Harry in book 5 when she first meets him - in all the emotionally beserk moments Harry had that year, she seemed one of the few people able to bypass them and to also understand some of what he was thinking. She's intelligent, gifted, cheeky - and she's marrying the last of the Marauders (Peter doesn't count as a current member, in my book).

Anyhow, yes! Huffle Tonks! And, yippee, you're back! And hope your mom and grandmother had a happy mother's day.

Glad your back. Also glad to hear you had a good time. Hurray, Hip, Hip, Hurray...You were right about Tonks. I knew you were. More Tonks and her "Huffle" friends I love your OC's this would be wonderful. Hey you could also write the cholera story with Daniel & Mira.

Congs, it wasn't my bet, but hey, it suits her.

The OoP Brazilian translator asked the genre she should translate "Head" of House into, and Bloomsbury replied that feminin. So, maybe for the first time, readers in a different language had additional information. Of course, they discussed that she hadn't mentioned Minerva, so their bets went with Pomona.

Oh! I forgot to mention that Naomi Watts, the actress in the Painted Veil is rumoured to play Cissy...

That made me laugh a bit. I guess I should also consider myself lucky that I am paying off a degree that I AM using. But it's funny when stated as such.

Oh, and if you write that story, please do share! :D

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure I saw that somewhere else first. I just don't remember where.
