Any Massachussetts people who don't know...
I got an e-mail from the Friends of the Library. The State Budget is planning to cut the Library of Last Recourse funding rather drastically. These are your resources to use! Sen. Marian Walsh of West Roxbury is trying to get the funding back to current levels. If you value the library of last recourse of Massachusetts, contact your state senator. The BPL is too good a resource to risk.

Oh dear. I wasn't aware of that -- thanks. I will try to help.

Oh, brother. I'll definitely put in my two cents. LLR is fifteen percent of our budget.

BPL

No! That's terrible. Do you think they would listen to a former resident who used to work 2 blocks from the library? (Reminds self to check in with former co-workers about their plans to fight it.) The BPL is a fantastic resource for visitors and residents alike; it was especially helpful to me as a grad student. I haven't lived in Massachusetts for over 2 years, but I think I'll drop a line to my former state senators anyway. I know libraries everywhere are facing budget cuts -- and I need to check how our local libraries are doing too -- but the BPL is an institution!
