They're running Law and Order: UK on BBC America. I'm so there. I caught half of it, plus a promo whose tagline was something like, "When you fight crime in a wig and a robe, you have to be tough."

Naturally.

I don't like Law and Order as a general rule, but that tagline makes me want to check this out.

It is catchy, isn't it?

I really wanted to watch it but the whole thing is filmed in wobble-vision and was totally out of the question for me. :(

That's a bad habit of a lot of our crime shows, and obviously, Dick Wolf decided to apply it. It looks exactly like our version, as far as aesthetics. It's supposed to be all artsy.

Yes, I can watch L&O from more than 5 years ago, but nothing after that. I blame Lars von Trier and the Dogme group for combining "cheap" and "artsy" in a way that was irresistable to TV producers!

The wigs are hot! And it's great to see Freema Agyeman, too.

I love the wigs and robes. I wish we hadn't jettisoned them. ;p

Aaagh! Why didn't I know about this! I love L&O, and all its works and pomps...

I know, right? This should have had a huge publicity push; we've been rescued from the lack of the mothership!

(And actually, from the half-ep I saw, I like it more than LO:LA. I like LO:LA, but LO:UK "feels" a lot more like the original. Not the first season--which I think is where they're lifting plots from--but those highwater mid-seasons.)

I saw the first two episodes, LOVED that they kept the "chung-chung!", and think the Mike Logan stand-in is hot. What more can you ask for?

Hey, he's way hotter than Logan! I can't ask for anything more. Except that they make it available through Netflix, darnit, I want it all, now! I want a marathon!

Ben Daniels. *purrrr*

His Wikipedia article talks about his research and how he was also a fan of the original, and he's put it all together, and done a really great job. (He's apparently frustrated by the inability to go U.S.-style, with the DAs popping out in front of the bench and pacing around the courtroom. He says it feels limiting.)

It's great! I've drifted away from L&O (never recovered from the loss of Jerry Orbach, yes I am THAT old) but my jaw hit the floor and I loved discovering this on BBCA! They kept the Cha-Chungs! And the cast - it was a veritable Ooooh! They're in this too??

Stories have both been good, bordering heartbreaking. Give it a go!
