The Secret of Ville-Sauvage, Chapter Ten: The Journal of Lily Luna Potter, 30 Oct-20 Nov, pt 4
Lily's journal. PWAC is in full research mode.

Table of Contents So Far

14 November.
I went to the cairn to bring some decorations. Al was there with his friend Moth. Michael and Robert were also there, and so was Michael's new girlfriend, Sarah Simms. They were holding hands. Moth kept staring at them, then staring at Al, but Al's pretty slow about that kind of thing. Once we put up a few new pictures, and fixed a hole in the ceiling, we did our homework. Moth helped me in History of Magic. I always get my goblins mixed up.

15 November.
PWAC meeting. Rosie took notes, even though she has a fever and there's steam coming out of her ears from the Pepper-Up Potion, because she says she couldn't follow a thing we did from my notes on Wednesday.

Meeting Seven of the Potter-Weasley Association of Crimefighting (PWAC)
In attendance: Albus Severus Potter, Rose Monica Weasley, Lily Luna Potter, Hugo Ronald Weasley, Silas Boyle, Michael Prince, Jane Virgil

Item 1: Shall other students be invited to participate?
As Silas Boyle and Michael Prince were already present when we arrived, and Jane Virgil (known as "Moth") arrived mid-meeting for the purpose of illegally Charming a Muggle blender, we voted to include them in our conversations. It would have been rude not to.

Item 2: Fresh perspectives
After hearing our thought processes, Moth Virgil (unsurprisingly) came down on Al Potter's side, saying that it sounded like someone wanted to make sure nothing was unexpected uncovered in the course of the tournament. When the logical flaw was brought up--that it would be simpler to remove or destroy such a thing than to derail an international tournament to keep it hidden--she admitted that this was a problem with the theory. Michael Prince said, "Perhaps someone knows something is there, but not precisely where." Rose Weasley still believes this unlikely. If the person himself put it there, he or she would know. If someone else did, then why hide it? And what would it be? Silas Boyle hesitated to speak, but was finally persuaded to, and came up with a more disturbing motive--there are madmen out there, including a murderer caught three years ago, who think the Ministry didn't exact enough vengeance on the Death Eaters. They have appeared in all three schools' spheres of influence, and aren't shy about their belief that we returned to normal too quickly--or at all. "They think 'normal' is what's wrong, don't they?" Silas asked. "So games that are all about going back to the past, and tying things up with tradition--they're not much going to like it, are they?"

Item 3: Items for further investigation
Moth Virgil pointed out that most of the manifestations (the instances with the Goblet, the release of the Sirens) have been things that would be most accessible to people involved in the tournament. It is resolved that we learn more about the main players: the judges, the French Ministry officials, and the champions. Assignments are as follows:
  • Al Potter will research Denis Laurent
  • Rose Weasley will research Vladyslav Shevchenko
  • Hugo Weasley will research Daniela Villanueva
  • Lily Potter will research Olympe Maxime
  • Moth Virgil will research Gawain Robards
  • Michael Prince will research Veronika Horvat
  • Silas Boyle will research Titouan Boulanger

It is duly noted that the champions are unlikely suspects, as the events occurred before they were chosen. Celia Dean was not included because it is unnecessary for us to research her; we know her well.

Item 4: Name change
Shall the Potter-Weasley Association of Crimefighting (PWAC) change its name to reflect new membership?
Lily Potter is keen to rename the group The New Marauders, but no one else wants a name change. ("Marauders oughtn't be up to organized good," as Michael puts it.) Boyle, Prince, and Virgil all opted to become honorary Weasleys and Potters. (For the record: the boys were declared Weasleys, since they "don't want to be associated with a specky git like Al Potter" and Moth Virgil became a Potter, as Al spoke up and "sponsored" her.)

That's the end of the notes from the meeting. I will add that I never saw anyone but Al and Moth ever blush at the word "sponsor."

16 November.
Hogsmeade weekend. I can't go yet. It's only third year and up. Al is off with Rosie. Hugo and Moth and I are in the Gryffindor Common room, where we can get all of the best seats. Hugo and I already complained about not being able to go, and about not being able to play Quidditch (Hugo is actually quite good), so we moved on talking about other things. I asked Moth if she and Al were going out. She says they aren't and it's none of my business, anyway. I told her that my brothers are my business. I think she actually agreed with me once I said that, as she just said, "Well, we aren't," then asked if she could practice Charms on me. We did this for a while--I ended up with purple hair and a necklace that sings, and she got curly eyelashes and high heeled trainers--then she and Hugo started working on their research for PWAC. Hugo has a lot to work with. Moth says she feels guilty about researching one of her own teachers... but at least there's plenty to learn.

I did mine last night. Madame Maxime is perfectly clean, and everyone knows it. She was born during the Grindelwald wars. Her mother was human and her father was a giant who worked for Grindelwald. I don't want to think about it that much. Her mother died when she was born, though. Her grandparents raised her. They were an old family in Alpes-Fantômes, and luckily, they were well-respected and when they said she just had big bones, that was considered the end of the story. Grindelwald had ideas about where half-giants ought to be "for the Greater Good," so they told everyone she was older than she was, and put her at Beauxbatons when she was only five, but was the size of a big eleven year old. She had to sink or swim, and I guess she swam. She must be very smart. I tried to think of something she might be hiding now that everyone knows she's half-giant, and I can't think of anything. Plus, she's one of the good guys. I'll ask Dad, but I'm pretty sure he trusts her, and if Dad trusts her, that's enough for me.

17 November.
Either Moth lied to me yesterday or Al bought a backbone in Hogsmeade, because I caught them kissing behind the Lionbloom.

18 November.
PWAC meeting. Rosie is still sick, but Silas is pretty good at notes, so he offered. Here they are.

Meeting Eight of the Potter-Weasley Association of Crimefighting (PWAC)
In attendance: Albus Severus Potter, Lily Luna Potter, Hugo Ronald Weasley, Silas Ronan "Bear" Boyle, Michael Andrew "Snout" Prince, Jane Elizabeth "Moth" Virgil
Absent: Rose Monica Weasley

Only thing, reports:
  • Lily says there's nothing on Madame Maxime, which is pretty much what everyone expected.
  • Rosie sent along a note saying that she hadn't found anything questionable about Shevchenko. He took over after a string of short-term headmasters at Durmstrang, and he'd been the Charms teacher before. Everyone likes him.
  • Hugo thinks Daniela Villanueva is a goddess and ought to have small creatures sacrificed in her honor. Also, that she doesn't have any motive. And is perfect in every way, and would therefore never hurt anyone. When pressed, he admits that he found some detractors who said she hadn't even enrolled in San Cipriano until the year of the tournament, and was absent a lot. They think she was a ringer brought in from the villages, where they might teach people older magic.
  • Al doesn't like Denis Laurent one bit, but couldn't find anything that would make him think he'd try to stop the tournament. The Laurents are a well-respected family. His grandfather was a war hero. He's just, in Al's opinion, spoiled. But Al thinks James is in a better place to find out about him, and wants to send all of our notes to France. Rosie knows a proper Duplication spell, as she's been Duplicating her notes for Lily's journal, anyway.
  • I think Titouan Boulanger is a smarmy git, from his interviews with the Voyant, but that's about all.
  • Snout thinks Veronika Horvat is possibly as hot as Dani. Hugo is willing to duel him on this point.
  • Moth researched Robards and said that "he's a really good bloke, as long as you're not married to him, and that's not my business, and I won't gossip about it."

More research to come.

So I went to see Rosie. Madame Pomfrey's assistant, Healer Chen, put her in the infirmary, where she's got a bubble of steamy potion around her head, but she seems fine in it, and perfectly ready to get out. She Duplicated all of her notes. I guess I'll just fill in the blanks about other things in a letter.
alt

19 November.
On second thought, I'm going to send James my whole journal. He'll have listen to me for a while if he expects to get to Rosie's notes.

So I guess I'm thinking about James reading it now. But I'm not going to name my diary "James." I refuse.

The first task is coming up on Saturday, and we're all wondering what Celia will have to face in it. Dad tried to get tickets, but he won't play the "I'm Harry Potter" card--he probably would if James were in it--and ended up not getting in, since he hadn't bought them in time. He said Mum's covering it for the Prophet, though, and Ruth Scrimgeour bought tickets months ago.

I hope nothing goes wrong. We have quite enough work to do already.

Either Moth lied to me yesterday or Al bought a backbone in Hogsmeade, because I caught them kissing behind the Lionbloom.

Love it!

Also loving the three distinct voices we can hear in this chapter alone.

Can't wait for the first task.

“Marauders oughtn’t be up to organized good” Haha, good point. Though Michael must have heard a lot of stories somehow for him to be the one to point that out.

Oh, Al and Moth. So cute. Al 'sponsored' her to be a Potter. *snicker* I suppose he can be forgiven for not figuring it out sooner, but she does seem to have been making it hard for him to continue not noticing.

"Her mother was human and her father was a giant who worked for Grindelwald." I'm with Lily. I... do not want to think about that. Honestly, having seen Grawp, I'm amazed the woman survived the experience long enough to have a kid.

So, if Ruth got tickets, I wonder who she's taking? Pity Harry didn't get any. You'd think certainly Ginny'd have gotten an extra one at least.

it's no exactly "giant sized" but...

the talk of human-giant crossbreeding got me curious so I did a little research.

and found this article of the biggest baby in the wordl:
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/178212/20110711/sixteen-pounds-big-baby-born-in-texas.htm
who weighted 16 pounds and measured 24 inches.

not exactly giant- but show it's possible.

not this case but, I would think the human mother or father was 9'' feet (which there is recording of one- in the U.S.)
then i could see it working.

don't want ot think too much of it because.... erm.

*squee* FINALLY!!!!*

okay first things first- I love Jane Virgil.
and I come to love Al.
and i seen all the little hints you threw out about them fancying each other.

so of course, I'm Over The Moon that they Finally Got together.
love how Albus wanted her in the group but didn't knew to himself why, and how oblivious he was to Moth signals. (Sorry Al, but in this case It HAS to be said- like father like son, Al Potter.)

(I really hope they stay together and it's not like Teddy and Ruth)

Re: *squee* FINALLY!!!!*

Al's not as oblivious as Lily thinks he is. He's had the subject on his mind for a while.

also, this has to be my favorite of Lily's journals.

reading it over again there's so many details (apart from all the Al/Jane fluff) that i like.

so they brought a food blended? (for drinks i pressume)? reminds me so much of campying trips in my garden where we would sneak out stuff from the kitchen.

I'm slightly offended that they did background checks on madam maxime and robards, i do understand why the "no left unturn" type-investigation but still. made me very happy neither of them had any skeletons in their closet (well outside of robards mess with the mistress *shakes head in dissapointment*

on that note, poor Madam maxime. the things her and her mother went through. (but that makes it even more awesome she managed to overcome all that)

after giggling like a mad person about Hugo worshipping Dani Villanueva and his subsequent defense of her "hotness" with Snot and Veronika (oh Snout, don't. she older that you among other things)

and while i really do like Dani I won't deny that there is an irkling of something fishy going on with her- do still hope real high that she's not the one behind this*

smiled at Al not liking laurent (who would after the stun he pulled?) and calling him "spoiled" i'm proud of him.

also love that jane felt guilty about researching Robards, And that she wouldn't gossip about his "marriage mess" issue.

so- no more lily journals? :(

Re: also, this has to be my favorite of Lily's journals.

I think they just brought the blender because someone had one.

and oh-oh.

"there are madmen out there, including a murderer caught three years ago, who think the Ministry didn't exact enough vengeance on the Death Eaters. They have appeared in all three schools' spheres of influence, and aren't shy about their belief that we returned to normal too quickly--or at all."

*shudders* now i'm having flashbacks of the events of "the needles eye" and *shudders*

which i'm guessing is the "madman from three years ago" thing right? if i recall that was teddy's last year.

so those monsters are still out there? :(

Re: and oh-oh.

Yeah, that would be the madman in question. Those monsters will be around for a while--Sam Cresswell just got them started.

Hi! Welcome back; sorry the move was messy!

Lovely! The kids have been busy, though there's nothing worse than saying "I hope nothing goes wrong".

I'm surprised Harry wasn't invited out of being an old champion, along with Fleur and Viktor. Oh, well, you don't really want Harry Potter getting too involved when there's space for James to be a bit of a hero next time trouble arises!
fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: October 19th, 2011 02:37 am (UTC) (Link)
Harry didn't get tickets because, ahem, I didn't want him to go, but wanted him to look like he wanted to.

PWAC is proving to be pretty formidable, as an information gathering organization.

Al's romantic future looks pretty secure for now--and he might be just a wee bit quicker on the uptake than his dad.

Looking forward to reading about the first task.
fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: October 19th, 2011 02:37 am (UTC) (Link)
I'm sure they'll break up and get back together a few times along the way, but they're both pretty level-headed.

wait, kissing infront of the lionbloom?

wouldn't the marauders see them? ;p

Hugo- i'll love you forever for your over idealized crush on Dani, that reminds me so much of your Dad's crush on Fleur.

if it wasn't because Ron married the awesome-meant to be with-Hermione, and George married Angelina i would say the weasley boys had a taste for foreign women

still Hugo, you're adorable

I'm liking Hugo. So far, the only one I'm not feeling much is Rosie, and that's probably just because I haven't spent much time with her. I'm still trying to "get" Al.

well Michael sure moved on fast from his crush on Dani- who is looking awfully like a potential suspect right now.

there will be more info on the speculation on Dani, right?
