Hogsmeade inns may be filling up... - The Phantom Librarian
Spewing out too many words since November 2003
Hogsmeade inns may be filling up...
Just an update on the Dumbledore's Grid challenge:

Forty people so far have thought they might give it a try. We have twenty-five from the USA (several regions, though one may choose Canada), three from Canada (though one may choose Togo instead), and two from New Zealand (Wellington and Auckland). One visitor each is making plans to visit from Russia, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iceland, Germany, France, Croatia, Brazil, and Australia.

Right now, the sign-ups are:
melwil: Brisbane, QL, Australia
leelastarsky: Melbourne, Australia
manu86: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
honey_child: small town Manitoba, Canada
faelynleaf: Vancouver, BC, Canada
canadianvampyr: (suburban Denver, CO) or rural Ontario
spade_queen: Montreal, Quebec, Canada or Kara, Togo
agatha_s: Zagreb, Croatia
wordwide: Paris, France
_safi: Müunchen, Bayern (Munich, Bavaria), Germany
bimo: North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
hildigunnur: Iceland
hime1999: Yogyakarta, Indonesia
natgel: Israel
bloody_vixen: Selangor, Malaysia
erised1810: East of Holland
maeglinyedi: South of Holland
songs_of_summer: Auckland, New Zealand
Elsha: Wellington, New Zealand
thewhitefirefly: Manila, Philippines
taelle: St. Petersburg, Russia

And in the USA (alpha by state):
chester_w: central Arkansas
shalnyx: central coast of California
izhilzha: Los Angeles, CA
ravish_potter: San Francisco, CA
mafdet: San Francisco, CA
tatooine: Boulder, CO
canadianvampyr: suburban Denver, CO (or rural Ontario)
buongiornodaisy: Washington, DC
jetamors: Washington, DC or rural VA

sjepstein: Metro New York area, NY
anatomiste: Chapel Hill, NC
jiminyc: Raleigh, NC
likeafox: Columbus, OH or Northern OH
mrs_who: western PA
ghanihwi: East Texas
stormswift: Houston, TX
kelleypen central UT
calico321: Vermont
vulgarweed: Southwestern VA

I'm really looking forward to this, writing and reading--we have a pretty wide dispersal going on here. :)

Anyway, like I said in the challenge post, if people from the same area want to work together on what its magical culture is like--just for the fun of it--they're more than welcome to. And if they'd rather just see what other locals think it would be like without being boxed by it, that's welcome as well.

BTW: A second U.K.-writer's variant has been added to the challenge.

Plugging in the countries mentioned (even if Togo's just an off-chance), this is what we've got:

create your own visited country map
or write about it on the open travel guide

And statewise,

create your own personalized map of the USA
or write about it on the open travel guide

Hooray, can't wait to read it! Of course, I have no muse, so I will have to read the fruits of yours.

Another late comer signing in :-)

Count me in for Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia, a small village in the Duesseldorf/Cologne area)

When you first proposed the challenge, I only had a bunch of character-based ideas, but know I think I might even have a plot *g*

The idea of a German Wizarding culture has really grown on me :-)

Re: Another late comer signing in :-)

Oh, hey, a plot. That's a good idea. (I need to think about that myself, rather than spending all my time tweaking the Boston wizarding world!)

The idea sounds lovely. Can you add me in for Israel please?

Oh, totally! Not a lot of red in that part of the map yet. :)
