I don't think Carolyn had any idea what was going to happen. As she explained it to me, Glass spotted her unloading shrimp at the railroad station, and said he would meet her later at the beach... and he used her old name to make the "invitation." When she got there, he made any number of threats, and, as was his habit, tried to back up those threats with his style of putting someone in her place. He grabbed her. She grabbed a trident. She's learned to handle it pretty well. She signed her name, hoping that it would lead the government on a wild goose chase.

She wasn't one of the women that got picked up at the reaping, so I put her on a boat right away and got her out of the hot seat. Of course, since they'd tested everyone not out at sea, they were pretty sure it would be one of the fisher-women, but of course, her DNA didn't match their sample when it came back, even though a Peacekeeper swore it was her.

She's upset at me for letting it go so far and keeping her from confessing, but to tell the truth, most people here are in favor of hiding anyone who wants to hide with us.
