Yes, that is just what I needed when it came to Annie. I feel like I'm at odds with... parts of fandom who take Annie as insane in the sense of being out of touch with reality. I really like the ways you show that Annie is certainly still suffering from the arena, but still strong. Plus, Annie keeping herself afloat because someone needs her is marvellous.

And on rereading, I'm also struck by Mag's voice... the association of drowning with Annie's episodes is just what I imagine would be adopted colloquially in a fishing district.

Haymitch and Effie's scene warmed my heart, which I also needed given how These Are The Names ended.

She seemed more traumatized than out and out ill, so yeah -- not on board with "out of touch with reality!Annie."

I was watching videos about to recognize drowning (that being a useful skill in the middle of the desert) and it occurred to me that it's the same with friends. The ones doing the great drama-fest mostly just want a pat on the back. The one who suddenly goes quiet might well be trying to conserve her air, because she's almost out of it.
