HB update - The Phantom Librarian
Spewing out too many words since November 2003
HB update
Well, I went ahead and started to put up my Star Wars Fics, though I've barely made a dent in the uploading. (doing web pages is very tedious, and if I'd waited until everything was there, I'd never have finished). Checking, the page for "Prophesy to the Wind" isn't displaying right. I think I'm going to have to split it up into a few sections.

All here.

The common stuff
These, you can see in lots of places, but now at HB as well.

Coming Home (Vignette)
The seed of an alternate universe (to be added to "Unfinished Stories"), in which Luke is a youngling at the Temple when the recently widowed Anakin returns to the Order.

Twelve-year-old Luke Skywalker battles a krayt dragon in the Jundland Wastes.

The Sand Fair
Young Owen Lars helps a slave woman keep her her droid.

The Flight To Rison's Deep
An Imperial boarding school is attacked in retaliation for the destruction of Alderaan.

Whatever Comes to Us
After the battle of Geonosis, Anakin and Padmé must make decisions about their future.

The Not-So-Common-Stuff
These are stories that are in three or fewer locations. More will join them.

Minor Distractions
An original-character screenplay about a disgraced padawan returning to his homeworld, where he discovers a bigger threat than shame.

Acts of Atonement: Homecoming
A post-Penitent story. Anakin, Luke, and Dritali go to Anakin's former home on Coruscant, and have an encounter with ghosts.

Acts of Atonement: Prophesy to the Wind
A post-Penitent story. Anakin and Han go to Laazum, where Anakin finds a possible padawan.

Souls in Motion
An "interview" with two original characters from The Ascension of the Queen.

Mara Jade Deathmatch: Aunt Beru
Part of a parody game at Soul of the Jedi, finding new and exciting ways for every canon character to beat the stuffing out of Mara Jade. NOT FOR THE EU FAN. This is not Fern being nice. Even to other fans. But I did promise to put up everything, including me being totally snarky. (I'm actually very sorry I was nasty to fans as well as to the character. It's a rough fandom war sometimes, and I think I went over the line and went a little Tusken camp here.)

I'll be adding more soon. The HB layout isn't going to work properly for a fic-list this size.

Fern, how are you coding your pages? If you can do the formatting of the site using CSS, then all you have to do is to is code the text on each page and attach your external style sheet, which will do all the basic formatting for you. Here is one of the best sites on CSS -- thanks to murasaki99 who showed me.

What I often do is to take a story, and save it using Word as a web page. Then I run it through Dreamweaver to eliminate unnecessary MS Word coding. That is cheating, but at least I don't have to find all the italics, paragraph marks, etc. If I want to spend the time, I can clean it up further. Then I can either cut and paste the master CSS formatting to that individual page (which is the clunky way, but what I have to do right now until I can talk with my tech person about paths), or simplya ttach a style sheet and voila, the page is ready.

That's what I do at Vader's Mask. I wanted to do the HB site differently, so I could get the Homestead bonuses (guest books for comments, hit counters, etc) on the story pages.

The problem on the menu page is that the lists are just getting too long.
