ACK!

Fern, close your ears.

Fern's Inner Critic: Listen up, bub. You need to shut up and let the woman write. *I* want to buy her novels and you're starting to piss me off.

All done, Fern!

[Fern's Inner Critic]But they'll see all the serial numbers filed off. Someone will SUE her! Bwa-ha-ha! I know what scares her![/FIC]

:p

Thanks. I have a general idea that mixes a lot of my interests (a dystopia caused when magic violently re-enters the world and upsets the carefully rational mix of things), but now, I need a story.

Dear FIC

If Jo Rowling doesn't have to pay someone for the word "Muggle"....

You're FINE.

Am I missing something? Was that an actual lawsuit, Rowling getting sued for "muggle"?

Quick, somebody spill some hot McDonald's coffee on the plaintiff!

It was. There was a book called "Ra and the Muggles" and the author tried to claim that JKR stole her story. Sigh. It was dismissed, of course, but what an annoyance.

It went for YEARS! And wasn't the original writer dead and it was her estate anyway?
