Homestead sites
Well... the age of the personal website is pretty much over, so I decided to save myself a hundred dollars a year and delete Vader's Mask, Humongous Bighead, and Cruelest Month. The traffic stats didn't exactly justify the cost anymore.

I downloaded archived versions of the sites, if anyone needs anything from them.

Wow... the end of an era! But completely understandable. I didn't even realize you were paying for those.

Yeah, they started out with a free promo for the old starwars.com sites, but the yearly fees started REALLY FAST.

I'm sorry to hear it, but I can see why you did it. Are most of the stories in other places? I haven't looked at the Pit in a long time but would happily go there again for specific fics. (Or is everyone at AO3 now? That's where I put my stuff, little as it is).

All of my things are somewhere. The main issue for me is the link lists to my old fics here (Shifts, Shades, Teddy), where I can read the comments when I'm feeling a little bluish. And I got those by saving. I think people are more likely to find stuff on FFN or A03, anyway, and the Quill's archive is still up for full versions of Shifts and Shades, and other HP stuff. Most of the SW stuff is at the TFN archive.

Surprised ...

As a website designer, I'm amazed that "the age of the personal website is over". I know an awful lot of writers who have them -- we're in the process of building one right now for someone.

I just hope I can always find "Shifts" and "Shades". I seriously believe that those are the two best multi-chaptered fics in all of HP ff. There are certainly other good writers, but AFAIC, you're pro quality and so are those books.

Re: Surprised ...

Well, maybe for pros. The age of the randomly operated fansite, I guess. Everything seems aggregated in the big sites now. Much as I'd like to be a pro, I've pretty much resigned myself to amateur status. ;p

I don't think the Quill has any plans to take those stories down. If they do, I still have them, and will put them at AO3.

Why didn't I got copies of things?
(Specially the fan art section- the fan art section for shift was so good )

Anything particular you want? I did download the archive.

Oh noo! Every so often I go there and go on a massive shifts/teddy verse binge! What am I going to do now??

fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: November 30th, 2015 06:37 pm (UTC) (Link)
Heh. The Shiftsverse is at the Sugarquill link, and the full Teddyverse is available at AO3.

I also totally understand the cost-saving - and occasionally binge-read Shifts-verse/Teddy-verse. Seriously, I enjoy your work as much I enjoy the books. :)

Is Stray somewhere? I'm having a hard time finding it. I just finished GoF again and was yearning for more Sirius.

Thanks a TON! I hope you're doing well,

Stray, that's a good point... never archived the unfinished one! I'll see over the next couple of days if I can find and tag it under Harry Potter fics on LJ.

I really enjoyed your websites, especially Vader's Mask. Unfortunately after my son was born I never got to finish reading the Penitent. Do you have a copy of it that I could read?

Re: Question

I'd have to find it. If it was on VM (I don't remember), then it's somewhere on my computer.

Re: Question

If you can find it, please let me know, I'd really, really appreciate it.

I'm also curious about getting a copy of The Penitent if possible, it's been so long but I never got around to finishing it and would appreciate having such an amazing fic to read.
