Yay! I'm so glad to see this updated!

Another great chapter. I especially enjoyed the exchange between Neville and Harry with Harry worrying about whether Neville will still want to be his friend, and the final part with James and Sirius's parting words. Your Marauder dialogue is always so fun! I love the way you do friendships in your fic.

Interesting you had Frank and Alice in Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw respectively. I hadn't thought much about that--I think a lot of fandom just assumes they were Gryffindors, and that's what drove Neville to want to be Gryffindor so much in canon (although now I'm actually a little fuzzy on whether it is actually implied that he asked for Gryffindor particularly). But I can see it the way you've described, too.

Augusta is, however, definitely Gryffindor through and through. ;) I loved the way you described her reminisces with Minerva. I can totally see the two of them interacting with their brusque manner covering up their fondness for each other, at least to an eleven-year-old.

And Hermione! Nice to see she hasn't changed much in this timeline.

Looking forward to getting them to school and hopefully meeting the Weasleys (assuming Ron turns up to be the fourth member of the gang if you're following the Marauder groupings).

Actually Rowling said that Neville wanted Hufflepuff because he was to intimidated by Gryffindor House's heroic reputation. The Hat argued for Gryffindor and when Neville couldn't find argument against it, the Hat put him in Gryffindor

Really? Ha! I hadn't read that she said that, and (spoiler), it's exactly what I had planned.

Awww.

That could support either interpretation, really - that his parents WERE Gryffindors or that they weren't. Most likely JKR never really gave it that much thought.

Ron is definitely in the mix. Harry knows the Weasleys through the Ministry, so there won't be quite the meeting that they had in canon, but they're friends, and he'll be joining the group.
