The essay I can't write
I wrote a long essay for the other thing, but it doesn't fit in my categories there, so I made it a freebie teaser. It's my if-only post on how the new Star Wars could have worked.

I think what I'm mostly going to do is leave original fiction and essays at the Patreon, and keep my blog here for fanfic. I'm thinking about an older Miguel story.

I didn't even know you could write essays at Patreon. Cool. Woefully I'm behind on my Star Wars, so I might want to skip, but I'm about to look at the rest of your page. :)

Anyway, going to check it out. I've been thinking of finding another platform. I may follow a similar route, do Patreon (or something similar) for essays and such, but keep LJ for the more specifically fandomy things and general updates.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel about the missed opportunities of the new films. I would have been happy with a trilogy taken place a thousand years after ROTJ, examining the long-lasting legacy of the Skywalker clan. Setting it mere decades later, and being fixated on the Evil Overlord/Scrappy Rebels dichotomy, means that they basically took everything from the original trilogy and flushed it down the toilet. Sigh.
