Blegggh. I have started and re-started the chapter several times… - The Phantom Librarian — LiveJournal
Spewing out too many words since November 2003

I have started and re-started the chapter several times now. I know where I'm going (the story ends on Posadas), but I've gone off on a bunch of tangents that need addressing now. I should be past Dia de Muertos now. What I'd wanted to do originally isn't working in the mythos, or the location (I'd say what my problem is, but that would be a spoiler). I find I mostly want to meander around Miguel's life and meet people, and that's not a freaking story. Maybe I should take a cue from Stephen King and blow something up to get the plot moving. ;p (No. I'm just going to take a deep breath, dive into something resembling the plot, and fix the transition later. This is the problem with live writing.)

Plus, I'm three essays behind on Patreon because my head isn't right. (I'm mostly fooling around in InkScape because it's a sharp learning curve, meaning I feel like I'm not treading water.) Grr. Serious writing time to put in this weekend. And I think at the end of the month, I'm going to close up the Patreon.

No worries -- and please don't close up the Patreon, I like reading what you write whenever it turns up! (Also, I like being able to finally pay back a bit in exchange for the reams of brilliant fic I've enjoyed over the years). Maybe you could do a sort of interlude chapter where you just wander around Santa Cecilia and other places and catch up on what everyone's up to? They're all concerned about Miguel to some degree, anyway, and that's a common link.

Thanks. I do like writing the essays (and was super looking forward to Lord of the Flies, my favorite of all dystopias). I just feel bad when people are giving me money and I'm not giving them the agreed-upon content. I really do appreciate the support!

Maybe here, I'll take a break and do some short stuff, like Hector and Maribel's travels, some stuff with Carlos and the guitar-making, and maybe some other check-ins.

Though I do have a history of interludes... maybe interludes could work here. :considers:

Was gonna wonder if making a bunch of one-shots would help to get things out of your system?

You don’t need to close your Patreon! Please don’t

You can put it on hold! That’s an option I’ve seen several people I support there done in the past
(Like someone’s grandpa died and they put their pattern on hold for a year)
And Don’t Worry you’re not a burden or imposing on anyone! Anyone who who’s about writing knows writer block is inevitable sometimes and we understand
Just PLEASE Don’t Close your Patreon

Seriously, no reason to close the Patreon. Put it on hold if you want or adjust the goals—I’m seriously happy to pay back the enjoyment I’ve had over the years.
