Weird pairings meme

You know, I'm not going to do the ubiquitous squicky pairings meme, because honestly, I can't think of an even vaguely plausible way to pair up Remus and Grawp, and that's all I have to say on the subject.

Oh, who am I kidding? I can't do Remus/Grawp because the physiology defeats me (the same is true of Hagrid's parents), but I'll try my second favorite and second least favorite.

I, fernwithy, do solemnly swear that my second favorite HP character is Nymphadora Tonks and my second least favorite character is Draco Malfoy. The mere thought of them doing naughty things together makes me whimper. However... given sufficient crack and an infinite number of monkeys, here's how a Tonks/Draco shag might happen (though I sincerely hope it never does, and if it does, I just don't want to know).

Necessary plot device or deus ex machina: Tonks has morphed into her Aunt Bella to try and get the lowdown on what's going on in Malfoy Manor, and finds out that she didn't really want to know.
Who makes the first move: Draco, temporarily taking Tonks utterly by surprise
Positions and/or kinks: Awkward
Afterglow: Tonks decides that as long as she's dressed up like Bellatrix, she may as well practice her Unforgivables, because, ick. She just can't decide whether to use them on herself or her icky cousin who thought he was putting the moves on his aunt.
Would I actually read or write this? Are there enough ways to say NO!!!!! in the universe?

Names and naming, thoughts

I did an article on this for SW fandom, but I can't remember if I ever made an entry specifically on names for HP characters. So, on the off chance that I haven't done this before, I'll go ahead and do so.

The HP universe uses names in a sometimes heavy-handed manner (when I first read PoA, I smacked myself across the forehead for not having spotted "Remus Lupin"... I mean, sheesh, parents trying to curse you much? Sirius Black as well, of course), but not every name is frought with direct meaning, including Harry Potter himself. (Granted, my mother is convinced that "Potter" has Christological significance, as in "I am not the potter, but the potter's clay," but that's pretty obscure. Harry seems to be your basic Campbellian mythic hero.) Hermione is a name-type (from educated and cultured parents), as are most of the Weasley names (down to earth, except for Ginevra, of course), not a direct meaning issue.

Anyway, that's all for now.

Charmed question

I don't usually watch Charmed and don't care much for it, but I sometimes leave it on in the background. I am really, really confused right now. Is it supposed to take place in the future? Because Alyssa Milano is only, like, two years younger than I am, and she's got two older sisters. At the moment, the show has the sisters back in time to the summer of love, meeting their grandparents. That's 1969, last I knew, not that any other point in the sixties would make a lot of difference. I was born in 1970 when my mother was 19. So how does someone who's my age have a grandmother who's not yet a mother in 1969? Is there some weird time warp happening? I mean, I guess that's possible. I'm actually just confused.
