The Phantom Librarian

Oops. Missed a day. And can't get past the first sentence of the next sextion of "Little Bits of Junk"; I guess that's what I'll be working on tomorrow. I know where it's going, but I'm bad with middles, and at maneuvering the two of them to where I need them to be.

I'm really thinking that I need to tackle The Prank. It's one of those things that sooner or later, every Marauder writer needs to do, like artists need to learn to draw the nude or whatever. It started out with Monsters, but if I'm going to do it, I should remove Elizabeth and do the story with only characters that we all know. It just seems like that should be the rule to follow (although in "Monsters," the incident with Elizabeth was just sort of an emotional trigger that set a lot of things in motion).

That pairing meme was certainly conversation-generating. I don't think I want to commit myself to quite that much again for awhile! Thirty-one pairings, and I did between 100 and 300 words on each. That's longer than most fic chapters I write, word-count wise.

I'm reading the first book of Dean Koontz's Frankenstein series (Prodigal Son). It's good. I'm not normally wild about Koontz. I don't dislike him or anything, but his books never did much for me. But this is a neat idea. ( Collapse )

Okay, pottersues has a Snape's daughter Sue up today, and she apparently hooks up with Voldemort's son.

Now, I've gone on at length recently about my opinion on Snape and romance, which has vast implications for his reproductive activities, but that's speculation, and there's always the remote possibility that I'm wrong, and he really is a dance club swinger with an illegitimate daughter in every town in Western Europe. But as to Voldemort, isn't it a fairly large plot point in CoS that he is the only living descendant of Salazar Slytherin? If he is the only living descendant, he can't have kids, because, you know, they'd also be descendants of Salazar Slytherin. I think JKR said he has no kids as well, but it would be superfluous if she did, since canon establishes it.

Well, I went looking for a favorite site and discovered it had moved. I recced it over a year ago, just 'cause it's fun, and I'll take the opportunity of the move to re-rec Flame Warriors, though I'm sure fanthropologists out there know the place... and most of the spoofs in it. ;)
