Vacation time

Well, I've been off for a week, and I haven't gotten any more writing done than I get at work. I've slacked two days at the gym, and my house is a disaster area. Maybe I should vacation on my vacations, instead of just vegging... Well, if I were traveling, I wouldn't get any writing done, I guess.

I have become addicted to Sudoku puzzles. I don't know about the rest of you, but when I become obsessed with puzzle games, I'll randomly start thinking about solutions when I'm doing nothing else. I play Word Whomp as well, and will occasionally wake up thinking of six letter words that can be broken down into many other words. You know you're in trouble when you wake up thinking, "Why haven't they used 'strewn'? 'Strewn' would be a great base word! You can get sew and stew and sewn and set and net and ten and wet and newt and sent..." And then you get really, really annoyed because "eft" (which is apparently another word for newt) and "neap" (a kind of tide) are on their list of acceptable words, but the computer won't take a word you think of as common, like "dyad." I actually spelled "dyad" three times, thinking I must have mistyped it, before I realized that it was somehow or other not in the computer's dictionary. What a dumb omission. And yes, if I try a word randomly and it's in there but I don't know it, I pick up my trusty dictionary and look it up. And my dictionary has "dyad," right there in black and white on page 431. I'm inordinately annoyed about that. ;)

Eft?

Er, um. Okay.

I think I'll go to the movies later. I want to catch Zorro because I am that geeky.

Foxy legends...

All right, I bestirred myself to actually leave my neighborhood and go to a movie. Because I loved The Mask of Zorro. I just had to see The Legend of Zorro.

Anyway, that's about it. It's a fun way to spend a couple of hours, but for heaven's sake don't think during it. It's easily spoiled by too much thought.
