Shades, Chapter Eleven: Gates to Nowhere, pt. 3

Okay. Back to work. One more section before the interlude!

Tonks and Maddie examined a gate in the Forbidden Forest built in the Victorian era to accomodate magical creatures needing to escape from increasing industrialization. Tonks encounters a mysterious entity in the forest who tells her that another gate is being built which will allow Dementors in. She goes to Phineas Nigellus's portrait at Grimmauld Place to make sure that only one gate into the forest was built (they were built under PN's watch), which he confirms. She notes that the Order has been using GP haphazardly, more like a warehouse than a house. Phineas is less than thrilled about this.

Latin question, with Finnish question edited in

Any Latin speakers on my f-list?

My undergrad school's motto is officially Pax et Lux, but as P.T. Barnum was a trustee, sjepstein and I were recently discussing "There's a sucker born every minute" as a motto. Does anyone know how to say that in Latin?

Oh, and another language question for Finnish speakers: I had a Finnish exchange sister, who taught me that "Hyvaa Joulua" was "Merry Christmas," but when I was watching a music channel that had little trivia factoids, it said that "Hauskaa Joulua" was right. I ran a check on "Hyvaa" and it seems common enough, but what about that "Hauskaa" form? Is it just a mistake, or is it like the difference between "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Christmas"?

Enquiring minds want to know.
