Spewing out too many words since November 2003
ABC meme
Thieved from austenrowling

A - Age you got your first kiss: 16. Well, a day short of seventeen, but hey, I made my goal of being kissed at sixteen.

B - Band listening to right now: no music on.

C - Crush: Haven't had a real life one for about fifteen years.

D - Dad's name: Tom, not that I've ever had any chance or reason to introduce him to anyone.

E - Easiest person to talk to: Thin air, aka, my computer screen.

F - Favorite bands at the moment: Beatles

G - Gummy Worms or Gummy Bears: Bears

H - Hometown: Perry, NY (grew up there); Boston (by choice)

I - Instruments: Flute, piccolo, piano--all badly

J- Junior High: Perry Central Jr.-Sr. High School

K - Kids: Sigh. Probably not, if I don't find a guy soon.

L - Longest car ride ever: In a day? Hebron, IN, to Perry, NY. Mapquest says it's 558.99 miles, but it went the southern route; we took the northern route along the Canadian side of the Lake Erie, so I'm not sure. Took about twelve hours. Altogether? Went around the continental U.S. with the fam over a month.

M - Mom's name: Linda

N - Nicknames: H.S. friends call me Barb. Nothing interesting.

O - One wish: to write some original world that other people fic

P - Phobia of Spiders: Not especially, though I don't like them crawling on me.

Q - Fave Quote: From Stephen King, On Writing:
"You can approach the act of writing with nervousness, excitement, hopefulness, or even despair - the sense that you can never completely put on the page what's in your mind and heart. You can come to the act with your fists clenched and your eyes narrowed, ready to kick ass and take down names. You can come to it because you want a girl to marry you or because you want to change the world. Come into it any way but lightly. Let me say it again: you must not come lightly to the blank page.

I'm not asking you to come reverntly or unquestioningly; I'm not asking you to be politically correct or cast aside your sense of humor (please God you have one). This isn't a popularity contest, it's not the moral Olympics, and it's not church. But it's writing damn it, not washing the car or putting on eyeliner. If you can take it seriously, we can do business. If you can't or won't, it's time for you to close the book and do something else.

Wash the car, maybe."

R - Reason to smile: Made arrangements for a trip to visit friends yesterday

S - Song you sang last: Sing (the Carpenters)

T - Time you woke up: 11:30 (I'm on vacation)

U - Unknown fact about me: I have an LJ. Nothing about me is unknown.

V - Vegetable you hate: Avocado

W - Worst habit(s): I'm a severe clutterbug

X - X-rays you've had: teeth, ankle, wrist, chest

Y - Yummy food: Pizza

Z - Zodiac sign: Leo

Went on one of my random hometown searches, to see if anyone had said anything interesting about Perry or Perryites (Boston makes regular, normal news, so I don't have to go on searches). I discovered that they changed the area code. Probably twenty years ago, but I just discovered it. I feel strangely betrayed by this. Also by the already known fact that they've changed the school set up from K-6 and 7-12 to K-8 and 9-12. Don't they know that they're not supposed to change things, even though I hated the place? What were they thinking?

Heheh. Playing musical instruments wasn't exactly my strength either.

I was actually second chair in band, but that said more about other people than about me. I was wretched. I still am. Though I was and remain pleased as punch to have bought a flute again finally after hocking mine to help with rent during college.

Please believe I don't mean anything insulting by this, I'm just using as an example of how oversteeped in fandom I can get: when I saw that your father's name was Tom, my first thought was "Damn, what is it with these crummy fathers named Tom?" No other parallels being suggested, of course :).
