Fun with Babelfish meme
I will do an actual post with substance, but I love Stupid Babelfish Tricks, so I had to do this one.

From melyanna.

You go and find a song that everybody knows and put the lyrics into the Babelfish (http://babelfish.altavista.com/). Translate them from English to German, then German to French, and then French to English. Then post here with 3 clues. See who gets the song right first.

The first one's a poem, but it's well-known. Since they're all really simple, I'll follow melyanna's version with no clues.

  1. Once after midnight despairing, while I considered weak and weary, on much a wunderliches came and curious volume a forgotten tradition, while I inclined, almost easy Nickerchen making, to strike, from something to strike suddenly there and struck with my door of sector. `' Tis a visitor, ' me murmured that `, with my door of sector - that this one, and nothing more strikes.'

Everyone knew that this began its life as:
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
    " 'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door;
    Only this, and nothing more."
    Edgar Allan Poe, "The Raven"

  2. Do not help me require somebody, the assistance, precisely each one, to know the assistance, you that I require somebody, the assistance. When I was younger, so much young person than today, I required each one to never help in all connection. But these days went now, I am not the policy-holder himself, finds, therefore now me have myself want to say modified an understanding and opened the doors. (Okay, this one may be hard, so one hint: I've used it in a fic.)

"Help," by the Beatles. Also guessed quickly, began as:
    Help, I need somebody,
    Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know I need someone, help.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody’s help in any way.
But now these days are gone, I’m not so self assured,
Now I find I’ve changed my mind and opened up the doors.

  3. I would not like too to be a tiger causes tiger the rough one, a play me the lion causes of Loewes being would like ' am of type, to love you enough to want to be simple, your Teddybaer placed a chain around my approach and conduit me with OH- could to me your Teddybaer being everywhere be. (Note: Did the chorus instead of the beginning.)

    Guessed, "Teddy Bear," by Elvis.
    I don’t wanna be a tiger
    Cause tigers play too rough
    I don’t wanna be a lion
    ’cause lions ain’t the kind
    You love enough.
Just wanna be, your teddy bear
Put a chain around my neck
    And lead me anywhere
    Oh let me be
    Your teddy bear.

  4. If you sing, you do not sing a song sing sing loud outside fort sing good bad things do not sing the sad happy one. If you sing, you do not sing a song form it with the last your life complete which is a long time, that it is not besides good enough for precisely intending to sing, you sing simply a song ensure. (Okay, maybe people who don't remember the '70s won't know this one. So that's a hint.)
Guessed, "Sing," by the Carpenters... and greyathena, yeah... you definitely heard it on Sesame Street! I was surprised when I found out it was actually a song from the radio!

    Sing, sing a song
    Sing out loud
    Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
    Sing of happy not sad.

    Sing, sing a song
    Make it simple to last
    Your whole life long
    Don't worry that it's not
    Good enough for anyone
    Else to hear
    Just sing, sing a song.

Woo-hoo. Quick guessing, everyone! Personally, I think Babelfish should take the Carpenters' advice and make it simple...

Snerk. I did this with a couple of the Sorting Songs I did for "Of A Sort." "Bold" somehow ends up as "Fatty" and "Kindly" as "Easy," so the Tonks sorting features Fatty Gryffindor running around with Easy Hufflepuff...

Well, #1 is Poe's The Raven, and #2 is "Help" by the Beatles...but the other two are stumping me, even though they look familiar.

Some of these came up pretty wacky, but...

#1 is Poe's "The Raven", and #2 is The Beatles' "Help". Haven't got a clue on the other two.

. In Swedish, "bold" (as in the font/type) is translated as "fedt", which can also mean "fat" or "grease", so I'd imagine that's how the German came out as well (Swedish being a Germanic language). Not so sure about "kindly"...
