Guessing game meme
Nicked from chienar, because I am avoiding my housework, now that I'm feeling well enough to do it.

1. Post a list of up to 20 books/movies/anime/TV shows/video games/etc. that you've had an obsessive fannish love of at some time in your life
2. Have your friends list guess your favourite character from each item.
3. Post in your own journal.

1. Harry Potter
2. Star Wars
3. Buffy
4. Ender's Game
5. Lord of the Rings
6. A Separate Peace
7. Lord of the Flies
8. Stand By Me
9. Voyagers!
10. Alvin Maker
11. Mark Twain
12. Little Men
13. Dallas
14. It
15. Dark Tower

Hmm. I can only think of 15.

HP and SW are no big mysteries, are they? ;)

Right on ASP and LotF as well, though in the latter, I also like Simon and Piggy a lot.

1. Remus Lupin!

How'd you guess? I've been so subtle... ;)

I reckon Chris Chambers for (8)...
fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: December 14th, 2005 10:18 pm (UTC) (Link)
I do love Chris, but nope.

I seem to recall that #3 is Oz.
fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: December 14th, 2005 10:19 pm (UTC) (Link)
Yup. I do like Buffy a lot, but Oz takes the prize. :)

2. Should I bother? ;)

Yeah, I know. My Boba Fett fangirl status precedes me. ;)

11. Huck?
fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: December 14th, 2005 10:21 pm (UTC) (Link)
Nope. Love Huck as a person, but he's not my fave.
ashtur From: ashtur Date: December 14th, 2005 09:14 pm (UTC) (Link)
I'll go with the obvious and say JR for Dallas
fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: December 14th, 2005 10:22 pm (UTC) (Link)
Obvious, but in this case... nah. I was a Pam girl. Lord knows why.
harriet_wimsey From: harriet_wimsey Date: December 14th, 2005 09:19 pm (UTC) (Link)
Let's see. I'm not familiar with some of those fandoms, and for those remaining some of my guesses are more educated than others.
1. Lupin
2. Anakin/Vader
3. Giles or Oz
4. Ender?
5. Frodo
6. Finny
11. Tom Sawyer
12. Um. Nan? Nat? Demi? I love that book, but I can't come up with a favorite for you.
fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: December 14th, 2005 10:24 pm (UTC) (Link)
11. Tom Sawyer

Ah, Tom! My first fictional crush. I so wanted to grow up and marry Tom Sawyer. I just love a guy who knows how to play Let's Pretend properly.

(I actually have a problem narrowing down Little Men as well. Nan and Nat are both excellent choices; it depends on my mood. But I guess I have the weirdest affinity for Tommy Bangs.)
harriet_wimsey From: harriet_wimsey Date: December 15th, 2005 12:47 am (UTC) (Link)
Yeah, I had a crush on Tom too. I used to pretend to be Becky Thatcher quite often. I forgot about Tommy Bangs! Obviously, it's high time I reread that book. I really love all those kids, but Dan might be my favorite.

fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: December 14th, 2005 10:27 pm (UTC) (Link)
No, it's Remus... I love Tonks, but I adore Remus.

I meant the general run of Twain books.

Oh, Giles is a good, strong choice. I was thinking Oz, but Giles. Yum. Also a fine, fine individual.

Been away, but hope you don't mind my chiming in with a few guesses.

6. A Separate Peace: Gene, perhaps? I know Finny's considered more heroic/sympathetic, but it's Gene's head we spend all our time in.

9. Voyagers!: Nice to encounter another fan of this one; I always thought the show had a lot of appeal, despite its low ratings. Many folks drool over Bogg but I'm going to take the road less traveled by and wonder if you actually preferred Jeffrey.

10. Alvin Maker: Alvin can be great, though I wonder if he's veering dangerously close to Gary-Stu territory in later books. Could your favorite be Peggy?

fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: December 15th, 2005 04:21 am (UTC) (Link)
I admit to being torn on ASP--I like Finny better, but I get Gene.

Ha! Good guess on Voyagers... I loved the Jeffster. Shame it had such low ratings. I really liked that show, and it didn't even run long enough to get real syndication value.

Nah... I have to cop to being contrary when it comes to Alvin Maker. I read for Cally. ;)

4. Ender's Game --Bean? (for the Speaker trilogy, I guess Novinha; for the Shadow series, I guess Petra or Achilles)
14. It -- Ben.
15. Dark Tower -- Jake. Or Susannah.

That's it, you're my evil twin. Or maybe I'm the evil one. But anyway--we have an alarming number of fandoms in common! (I totally heart Orson Scott Card)
nentari From: nentari Date: December 15th, 2005 09:06 am (UTC) (Link)
I haven't looked at the other comments, so here goes...

1. Remus
2. Anakin
3. Oz
5. Aragorn, I think...
7. I'm currently reading the book for the first time, so here's a shot in the dark... Ralph?
cheddartrek From: cheddartrek Date: December 15th, 2005 09:47 am (UTC) (Link)
1. Remus, but we knew that already.
2. Anakin
3. Oz or Giles, but you've already said Oz is right I believe. Though I think that Giles may be my favorite fictional character of any fandom.
4. Bean would be my guess.
5. Sam?
6. Haven't read this.
7. Piggy perhaps? I don't remember too many of them.
8. ?
9. ?
10. ?
11. No clue, but I doubt it's Tom or Huck.
12. ?
13. ?
14. Bill would be my guess.
15. Jake, definately.

Well, how'd I do?

Hmmm -- lets see how much I've learned about you this year.

4.Enders Game -- Not familiar
5.Lord of the Rings -- Frodo
6.A Separate Peace - No clue
7.Lord of the Flies - Simon
8.Stand By Me - Gordie (Though my John Cusack obsession is trying to make me type Denny)
9.Voyagers! - (That time travel show?) Um, the kid? I forget his name.
10.Alvin Maker - Not familiar
11.Mark Twain - His work is far too prolific! Huck Finn (because who wouldn't love him!)
12.Little Men - I stopped at Little Women, and I'm guessing not Jo, but one of the boys.
13.Dallas - Seriously? Never could get into it myself.
14.It - don't know
15.Dark Tower - don't know

I think I need to get a little more Stephen King under my belt.
