Weird cat
I'm watching the roommie's cat for the holidays. I've had several cats, but I don't think I've ever seen one so creative in the way it eats. Apparently, Jelly likes to mix his water and his food, so he stands in front of his bowls, scoops the dry food out and places it in his water, STIRS IT, then scoops it out and puts the mixed stuff on the floor to eat. Now I know why the roommie keeps his dishes on a towel! (He was lonely and wanted to be in the room with me, so I brought his dishes in so he'd eat. Should have brought the towel.)

I feel a bit...: amused easily amused

I could say the same about the hopping Santa icon, which fascinates me...

I can't remember where I got it... off some website somewhere, shamelessly stolen!

My Amadeus used to drink with his foot. Would NOT stick his face in the water bowl for anything. He'd dip his foot in, then shake it to flick off most of the water, then lick it until it was only damp.

Then he'd walk through the litter box and come try to pat my face.

I miss him!

My cats do that!

One of them will only eat it off the floor and the other one has it like soup. It drives my mother insane because I'm always letting them do that.

So Jelly Roll's not the only one! Aha. The mysteries of feline behavior.

That was sweet of you to bring him in. I hope he didnt make too much of a mess.

Merry Christmas!

Oh, I'm so happy to have a cat in my life again that I actually let him sleep in here, which I haven't done with my own cats.

Maybe it's the cat's not so subtle way to demand moist cat food from a can? Or maybe fresh meat? At least it still eats the dry food without too much fuss, that's not that bad.

Yeah, we got him a little canned food treat (it's a bad idea for their teeth to do full time), and I think he likes the notion. I'm going to give him some turkey tomorrow.

That's not a cat, it's a raccoon.

Hehe! That's too funny. Every cat has its quirks, but I think that is the quirkiest quirk I've heard of, at least in terms of eating.

My cat Binkley (rest in peace) used to flop over on his side, scoop the food out of the bowl with his paw, and then eat it. We called it his "overhanded paw-swipe." If one of us saw him do it, we'd usually say "Binkley!" in a disgusted voice, then pick him up and sit him in front of the bowl so he'd eat his food like a "civilized feline." Other times we'd just watch in amusement.

Our cat Buckley will flop INTO the food bowl and scarf his kibbles up- IF you pet him at the same time. Then he purrs loudly. If you pay him no mind, he gets bored and wanders off.

Never be surprised by ANYTHING a cat will do! ;-)

They just such sweeties - all of them!
