Spewing out too many words since November 2003
Boring show. Katherine shouldn't wear yellow; it's a horrible color for her. Why does Chris get special guitarists when everyone else is just up there singing?

And please, God, let Kellie get roundly slapped by the vote for that mess this week. I don't believe she didn't get slapped last week. It's a boring song anyway, but caterwauled off-key, it's actively painful. Why they encouraged her to try to hit that screechy high note when her voice is obviously tired (all of them are) is beyond me as much as why they kept encouraging Ace to go for that awful falsetto. I also hope Taylor finally gets a severe slap in the teeth for that awful performance. I like everyone who's left (Chris still isn't a favorite, but he's sufficiently proved to me that he can get out of his box, and he's finally learned to sing from the diaphragm) except those two. I don't know which one I want to leave more, but I have a feeling I'm going to be bitterly disappointed when it turns out to be someone else.

So my predictions:

If life were fair, the bottom three would be Kellie, Taylor, and either Katherine or Paris, with Katherine-or-Paris released immediately back to the safe zone. It would turn out to be a suspensful vote, but based on performances, Kellie was marginally worse and should go.

Life being what it is, the bottom three will be Elliott (who sang a song no one knew), Katherine (who the judges savaged), and Paris (who sang too old for herself). I think Elliott's the most likely sacrificial goat, Paula's tears aside. But it could be Paris. She's a teen, she has the nerve to be extremely good, and she's my favorite, which is kind of a triple threat.

I'm getting to point of almost feeling sorry for her on that. She apparently really doesn't realize that Ryan and the judges are actually making fun of her, rather nastily, and not just sharing a cute joke.

No, but it's all put-on, anyway. I hate Kellie largely because she chose to make this kind of idiotic joke of herself deliberately, and refused to change when it stopped working. At this point, it feels like she's just desperately upping the ante every week in the hopes that her persona will become loveable again, and she's shedding fans.

My money's on Kellie, Katherine, and Paris in the bottom three, with Paris going home, though I would give a lot for it to be Kellie.

Oh, thank heaven I'm not the only one bored to tears by "Unchained Melody." There's nothing even slightly distinctive about it, except the long plodding slowness of the notes.

Paris is my favorite, too.

I generally like Unchained Melody -- though I can only hear it so often -- but you're right, Kellie butchered it.

It seems like most weeks recently they've been doing really *dull* music, and are limiting variety. First we had fifties songs, for which most of them sang the slow ballads. Then there was the Rod Stewart music, which apparently meant classic ballads, rather than Maggie May and the like. And this week we had classic love songs. I wound up switching the show partway through, as I wasn't paying that close attention anyway. (I missed Taylor completely.)

The voice coaches were really obnoxious, IMO, especially Dave whoever-the-hell-he-is.

I did think Katherine sang wonderfully. I don't know the original Whitney Houston version, but based on the judges' comments, I'm sure I would *hate* it. If I had the best voice in the world, I still wouldn't do well on AI (at least in the judges' opinions) because I can't stand diva-style singing. Don't put forty-three runs in the song, don't screech the held notes an octave above where they're supposed to be, and don't make it so that you can't find the song amidst all the singing. The judges said that Katherine "asked us to compare [her] to Whitney" and that she fell horribly short. You know what? I usually don't like Whitney Houston, even though she has amazing talent. I thought Katherine was great.

I agree, David Foster was obnoxious!

My friend also observed that he's more into middle-of-the-road pop, and this was probably why Randy didn't like the performances wherein the singers followed his advice.

I liked Katherine's dress, but other than that I agree with your observations and "should-be" and "will-probably-be" predictions - although I hope Elliott doesn't go yet. Kellie should be the one to go. I even have a proposed title for the Yahoo! article about Kellie's elimination: "Pickler Sent Packing."

The right person was voted off. I like Kellie but it was time to go. She wasn't the sharpest knife in the draw but she was smart enough to play up the dumb blonde bit to get votes.

I thought Katharine was excellent yesterday. Even Simon and Randy had to admit that tonight. Yellow's not the best color but she looked smoking. :D

I'm shocked in a good way that Elliott was in the top two--he was very good, but I didn't think he had much of a fandom, and he's not interesting. And shocked in a horrible, awful way that Taylor was not only not in the bottom two, but in the freaking top two. God, I hate his spastic ass.

Oh, wait. He didn't. (Sorry, watching my tape now. I only watched the end of it before I started.)
