Phew... - The Phantom Librarian
Spewing out too many words since November 2003
Okay. It's 4:23 a.m. I finished almost all of the Harry Potter stuff on the brand spanking new Fern's Humongous Bighead Site. I will celebrate this tomorrow by doing a Shifts post instead of fiddling around with an idea that started because I was tired of typing out the table of contents at the beginning of every Shifts post (yes, I was just copy-pasting, but it seemed such a waste of bandwidth to have it over and over) and wanted a link to stash it at. I haven't got all the cross-referencing done--I'm linking stuff up by length and story type as well as fandom--and I haven't even started adding the SW stuff. Oh, and I realized that I forgot my first serious HP piece, Invisible--I noticed the coding was completely whacked out, and forgot that I'd forgotten to redo it. The Tolkien stuff shouldn't take long to add, anyway.

I feel a bit...: tired tired

Oh, I love the little animation. Good show.

And I always did love that Fred and George quote.

I suppose it's partly a tendency to have Founders on the brain and partly having seen some more of the backstory... but I hadn't seen all your drabbles before, and the last "What If" one knocked me over.

*coughs* Sorry. I hadn't realized the "What If" challenge was the current one. *pounces HP100*

Oooh, you write Star Wars? Mm. I used to write SW too. Just curious, which character(s) do you favor?

Heh, I still think of myself as primarily a SW writer who's ventured into HP for the last year and a half or so. I tend to write Anakin a lot (my other site is Vader's Mask), though I do write others. A representative handful is available at The Force.net.

Speaking of which, I really enjoyed the father/daughter relationship you wrote for Vader and Leia.

It's quite a nice site. Do you mind if I friend you, btw?

I never mind friends, and thanks! :)

(I suppose I shouldn't say "Never." Maybe someday, there will be a friend I'll object to terribly. But so far, I haven't run into one.)

Thanks. Most of the stuff is pre-coded as much as I need it to be--I write in HTML here at my LJ, and that accounts for a lot of the short fic, and the ones that are up at SQ are also conveniently already coded. To work with the homestead editor and put on the solid background, all I had to do was cut and paste some table tags. Tedious, but not difficult. The problem with "Invisible" is that I seem, for some reason, to have used Word's godawful "Save as a webpage" feature, which left me with their, er, questionable coding. It's actually easier to just start over again than to go through and remove all the garbage code in a doc that's been mangled like that. (And do a search and replace to get paragraph tags in there for the LJ ones.) Other than that, Homestead's a WYSIWIG editor.

boo to word!. enver do that-one again. it's indeed inserting alot of unneccessary crap that just wants itto lok iside yoru browser as if yourreadign a word document. blah!
erm, sae as textadn then copyh and past form another fic?
fernwithy From: fernwithy Date: May 26th, 2004 05:28 pm (UTC) (Link)
It's the bold and italic tags that are getting me, so pasting coding from elsewhere doesn't work. And I don't know of a good way to do it with search and replace--I can use "search" to find all the italics, but I have to manually type in bracket-i-bracket and bracket-backslash-i-bracket every time.

Yo uneedto italize thigns then? I hate those tiny little tags you ned to remidn yoruself ot put everywhere. FUn with dialogue for instance...
